A custom domain gives your ProfitJam site a branded public address. You can build and publish at the ProfitJam address first, then connect your own domain when the site is ready.

For a root domain such as yourdomain.com, one setup supports both yourdomain.com and www.yourdomain.com. You choose which is primary, and the other address redirects visitors to it.

Before you start

You need access to the DNS settings at the company where your domain is managed. Publish and review the ProfitJam site at its temporary address before moving an existing live domain.

Warning: Change only the records ProfitJam shows for website setup. Do not replace email records such as MX records, because that can interrupt your email service.

Add the domain

  1. Open Settings > Domains > Website.
  2. Select Create or Add Domain, enter the domain or subdomain you own, then select Add Domain.
  3. If you entered a root domain, choose its primary version.

The recommended option is Use www (works everywhere). Visitors who enter the root address are redirected to the www address.

You can instead choose Use root domain as primary. This option requires DNS hosting that supports the root-domain setup ProfitJam shows, such as Route 53 or Cloudflare. The www address then redirects to the root address.

Note: Add a root domain only once. ProfitJam configures its root and www versions together. A separate subdomain, such as pages.yourdomain.com, is configured on its own.

Verify ownership

ProfitJam first shows the DNS records used to confirm that you control the domain and prepare secure HTTPS.

  1. Copy each displayed record into your DNS provider.
  2. Keep the names and values exactly as shown.
  3. Return to ProfitJam and select Verify Domain.

If verification is not ready yet, leave the records in place and use Refresh later. DNS changes do not become visible everywhere at the same speed.

Point the website to ProfitJam

After ownership is verified, ProfitJam shows the final website-routing records for your chosen primary address.

  1. Add or replace the website records exactly as shown.
  2. Return to ProfitJam and select Verify DNS.
  3. Wait until the domain shows Active.

ProfitJam keeps checking the domain and its secure certificate. When setup is complete, the current published version of your site is served securely at the custom address.

Replace an existing site safely

Build, publish, and test the ProfitJam site at its temporary address first. You can add the ownership records while the old site remains live. Change the final website-routing records only when you are ready to send visitors to ProfitJam.

If addresses on the old site do not match the new ones, open Settings > Redirects and send important old paths to their new destinations. ProfitJam also preserves the previous address when you change the address of a page that was already published.

Common questions

Do I add the root and www domains separately?

No. Add the root domain once and choose which version is primary. ProfitJam supports both addresses as counterparts and redirects the other version to the primary one.

Can I use a subdomain?

Yes. Enter an address such as pages.yourdomain.com. A non-www subdomain is its own setup and does not automatically add another counterpart.

Why is my domain not active yet?

Check that every displayed DNS name and value matches your provider exactly, then select Refresh or Verify DNS again. DNS and certificate checks can take time after a change.

Will connecting a website domain affect my email?

It should not when you change only the website records ProfitJam displays. Leave your email and MX records in place.

What happens before the custom domain is active?

Your published site continues to use the ProfitJam-hosted workspace address shown in the app. Once the custom domain activates, published pages use that address instead.
